Gerald Kirkconnell owner of The Kirk Freeport Plaza in the Grand Cayman Islands commissioned Dale to create a piece that would capture the essence of the island. After a few design concepts, both Dale & Mr. Kirkconnell agreed that the stingray is a prominent symbol of Grand Cayman. The design was inspired by the famous Stingray Alley, a favorite dive spot populated with friendly stingrays.
